Primary 5

Welcome to our Primary 5 course on digital citizenship and technology! In this course, students will explore a range of important digital citizenship topics, including e-commerce, talking safely online, finding a media balance, privacy and security, keeping games fun and friendly, and challenging gender stereotypes. Additionally, students will learn how to use multimedia tools such as Prezi Online, explore the history and timelines of computers, and dive into topics such as computer systems, arithmetic and logic units, POS systems, sensors, and review IPO.

Throughout the course, students will develop essential digital citizenship skills, including understanding how to engage safely and respectfully online, recognizing and responding to cyberbullying, and exploring media consumption and its effects. Students will also explore topics such as online security and privacy, the importance of keeping games fun and friendly, and challenging gender stereotypes in digital spaces.

In addition to digital citizenship, students will learn how to use multimedia tools such as Prezi Online to create engaging and dynamic presentations and will explore the history and timelines of computers to gain a better understanding of how technology has evolved over time. They will also learn about topics such as computer systems, arithmetic and logic units, POS systems, and sensors, building a foundational knowledge of how these systems work.

Finally, students will review their coding knowledge and learn the basics of coding statements and data types. They will build computational thinking and problem-solving skills that are important for success in the digital age.

By the end of the course, students will have developed a range of important digital citizenship and technology skills, setting them up for success in their academic and personal lives. They will be able to use technology effectively and responsibly, create engaging multimedia presentations, understand the history and evolution of computers, and develop a foundational understanding of computer systems and coding.
