Primary 6: Course Introduction

Welcome to our Primary 6 course on digital citizenship and technology! In this course, students will explore a range of important digital citizenship topics, including access and rules, digital footprints, the digital citizenship pledge, copyrights, fair use, security, and privacy. Students will also gain an introduction to data representation, basic number systems, decimal-to-binary conversions, logic gates, databases, control systems, HTML, and communication and internet technologies.

Throughout the course, students will develop essential digital citizenship skills, including understanding the rules and regulations of accessing digital information and the importance of online security and privacy. They will also learn about digital footprints and how to make responsible decisions online. In addition, students will explore topics such as copyrights and fair use and will take the digital citizenship pledge, committing to being responsible digital citizens.

Students will also gain an introduction to data representation, which includes basic number systems and decimal-to-binary conversions. They will learn about logic gates and their use in digital systems. Additionally, students will explore databases and control systems, developing an understanding of how they work and their applications in real-world situations. They will also gain an introduction to HTML, learning how to create basic web pages.

Students will learn about communication and internet technologies, including an understanding of network topologies, firewalls, and proxy servers. They will also gain an introduction to programming, specifically Python programming. Finally, students will learn about ICT terms and acronyms commonly used in the field.

By the end of the course, students will have developed a range of important digital citizenship and technology skills, setting them up for success in their academic and personal lives. They will be able to use technology effectively and responsibly, understand the basics of data representation and programming, and have a foundational understanding of network topologies, firewalls, and proxy servers.
